Non-Profit News: Did you see the little blurb above? Huzzah! We are now registered with Minnesota and on a federal level. In the coming weeks we will be setting up steps to be able to receive donations. Thank you to those who have donated to help us get to this point!
Our January group meeting held many firsts. Our first meeting outside of a library in a year (our first three meetings were in parks. Something I hope we can do again in the summer). The first meeting of 2026. First meeting as a non-profit. And first time for some new people. I hope we continue to have new people every time. Even if a person if only able to come one time in their life, I hope we are able to have a positive impact and make them see tea in a new light.
Today’s educational part of the meeting was a bit on oolong. We discussed processing and then showed the differences between the oxidation levels of oolong. As was mentioned in the class, please remember that the oxidation step and the roasting step are separate. In the picture below are three Dong Ding Oolongs. The one of the left is lower oxidation (a green oolong if you will), the middle is that same oolong but roasted (I roasted it), and the one on the right is an aged oolong.
Teas we drank:
- Wizard’s Brew Fruit Tisane- Bellasia Tea
- Red Oolong – Jing Si
- 2020 Aged Dong Ding Oolong – Yang Qing Hao
- 2020 Yunnan Ripe Puer Cake – Yunnan Sourcing
- Vine Tisane – ORTea
- Jiang Hua Xiang Phoenix Dancong – FatBat Puer
