Non-Profit News: We are in the processing of setting up to receiving donations. Thank you for your patience!
Thank you to Cha-Ami for allowing us to use your conference area despite not being open at that time on Saturday! We truly appreciate places that allow us to use their areas. If you have any ideas for places for us to meet please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Our focus for this session was all on Japanese teas. Many find Japanese teas to be difficult but, like with many other things in life, you just need to know how to handle them appropriately. Not to mention many people have only experienced Sencha or Bancha (knowingly or unknowingly and most of the times in the form of a bottle).
We started this session with a matcha from a company that I want to give a big shoutout to. Yunomi.life. This company is run by Ian Chun and words do not express how wonderful this company is. I’ve learned so much and have accomplished so much thanks to them. For this past tea meeting they played a big role in a few of the teas we tasted. But the one I really want to point out is the matcha. Thank you for the donation of the Matcha Spectrum Sampler Set. This set is a great reminder that matcha has different uses and the best way to determine use is not just by what’s on the packaging but also by how we learn to grade it.
Teas we drank:
- Matcha (Imperial & Culinary) – Yunomi.life
- Tencha – Aloha Matcha
- Sweet Sakura Blossoms – Obubu Tea
- Sun Rogue – Marumo
- Genmaicha – Nishico
- Goishicha – Yunomi.life
- Yunnan Crassicolumna Red tea – FatBat Puer (This is a relative of camellia sinensis called camellia crassicolumna)
- Japanese oolong – ZC Tea House
NEXT MEETING:
