After each meeting, I compost the leaves we used. My car smelled amazing. Thank you to the new people who showed up, and of course, those who have returned, I am eternally grateful. I can’t do this without you.
Our session started with samples from Bellasia Tea and the Japanese Green Tea Company. Both companies have donated tea for us to taste at our meetings. Thank you to both of these amazing companies.
Our educational piece of the day was two-fold this time. We began by splitting off into two groups. Each group was given the task of determining whether A or B was the bagged tea. Everyone had a role to play in making the tea. Next, we switched to discovering terroir. We cupped 5 black teas from five different regions. If you think all black tea tastes the same, then you haven’t tried enough. We will broaden our tea horizons. We took the last bit of the meeting to explore a range of delicious teas.
Teas we consumed:
- Warrior Punch – Bellasia Tea
- Hojicha -Japanese Green Tea Co
- Amba Thieves – Rakkasan Tea Company
- Rakkasan Black (Tea bag) – Rakkasan Tea Company
- Unsmoked Lapsang – The Steeping Room
- First Flush Darjeeling – Tea Emporium
- Mughal Horseman – Rakkasan Tea Company
- Red Shan – Plantrip Cha
- Fujian Wild Red –
- Scottish Breakfast – Taylors of Harrogate
- Shou Pu er Cake –
- Jasmine Dragon Pearls – Red Blossom
I feel like I might be missing one or two. Let me know if I am.
