Fewer people for this meeting but even the presence of one is enough to enjoy tea. One of the members was kind enough to bring cocoa moon cakes and mung bean moon cakes. We looked at the difference between two different white teas and then enjoyed two from two other categories. Just for reference, the main six types of tea are: White, Green, Yellow, Oolong, Black, and Dark.
As we started packing up we noticed a lady looking at our sign. We asked if she wanted to come in to enjoy some tea with us. She was delighted with the tea and the cakes. We hope that this will be a regular occurrence at future meetings!
1st Brew – Elder White, Mei Leaf, White Tea. Sometimes tea will knock your socks off. We found this one to be satisfying with a peppery flair.
2nd Brew – White Peony, Tea & Whisk, White Tea. We changed directions from the fairly unknown tea above to a very popular one. This tea is famous worldwide and is generally what most people think of when another person mentions white tea.
3rd Brew – Tua Chua, Planttrip Cha, Yellow Tea. This exceptional tea is from wild trees in Dien Bien, Vietnam. It has many special attributes from its unique yellowish color to the sweet after taste that gets better with every brew. You can buy it here.
4th Brew – Yanzitou Sping 2022, Fatbat Puer, Sheng. Puer is a category that often stumps people. They feel like everything they’ve tried leaves them meh and they can’t quite see the appeal everyone gives it. But when you find the good ones you get that a-ha moment. This might be a good one for any of you who have trouble with pu er.
People around us can highly influence tea. When tasting teas try to clear your head of previous notions. Come discover new teas with us at our next meeting!
